Local Company Moves into Specialist Markets

by Michael Pollit

Grain and Agricultural Merchant Adams & Howling Ltd have agreed the purchase of the marketing arm of Herbert Parker Ltd of Bramerton in a move to expand & diversify the companies trading portfolio announced in a joint statement from the two companies. As a result a newly named company Parkers Seeds (Division of Adams & Howling Ltd) will be created by incorporating both firms existing sales & purchases of cereal seed & grass mixtures into one unit.

Chris Parker has been appointed Agricultural Seeds Manager & Keith Parker Amenity Seeds Manager & will be relocating to the headquarters of Adams & Howling at Granary Offices, Little Plumstead on the 1st July 2004. Matthew Adams, commercial director at A&H remarked “Herbert Parker Ltd is renowned throughout East Anglia for its expertise in the cereal & specialist seed marketing industry having been established for over 140 years.

Chris & Keith bring that experience with them & will be a great asset to our trading team. We are also keen to expand into the Leisure & Horticultural grass & fertiliser markets that will give an extra dimension to our business.

"Our business plan is to continue to grow the company with further marketing partnerships and niche opportunities within the near future”.Chris Parker stated that the Herbert Parker Ltd premises had become too small and outdated to continue with seed production. It was an obvious choice to transfer the marketing arm to Adams & Howling Ltd.

The two companies have worked closely together for over 30 years and we can maintain the personal service to customers by an independent family owned company, and in addition, provide a better range of business facilities and opportunities.

Cyril Adams, Chairman & Managing Director at Adams & Howling welcomes the move and added  “this is an exciting step forward for the company & it will also ensure that the name Parkers Seeds will continue for the foreseeable future alongside our well established grain trading & fertiliser marketing business to the mutual benefit of all concerned”
